CAVERN - Max Depth: 15m/52ft
CAVE - Max Depth: 27m/90ft
As the name suggests, not so long ago, this cenote was used by local taxi drivers to literally wash their cars. Don't let this put you off visiting though, this cenote is still considered one of the most beautiful caves in the world.
The surface of the water is often covered by an algae bloom veil during the warmer months of the year. Hidden beneath, the crystal clear water houses entrances to numerous caverns and caves containing some of the most spectacular underwater rock formations you'll ever see. In particular the White Room, the Room of Tears and the Chamber of Ancients make for some amazing underwater photography.
Due to the delicacy of the speleothems, the deeper than normal halocline, the high level of silt and the dangers these all incur, visitors to this cave system must either hold a full cave diver certification or agree to preforming a check-out dive prior to their cavern visit.
