Please note that for Cthulhu Divers to conduct night dives, we must apply for special permissions from local authorities. In light of this we ask for a minimum of 3 divers and, at least, 72hrs notice to conduct these tours.

Are you ready to embark on a thrilling underwater adventure under a starlit Caribbean sky? Look no further than our sunset and night diving tour right here in Cancún. On this two tank tour, you'll not only have the opportunity to witness the enchanting mating dances of the local fish and marine life but also then choose to route for either the hunters or the prey as the underwater world's dinner time officially rolls around. After watching our night dive video below, read on to learn more about this extraordinary experience and its logistics.

Hotel Collection

As with all Cthulhu Diver's tours, we include transportation between your hotel and our dock for this adventure. To find the exact pick up time for your hotel, you can use the handy dive summary tool at the top of this page to find our estimated arrival and return times along with the price of this tour. Please note that most hotels will ask us for your room number and the name of the person whom the room is booked under so you can expect a call from one of our staff to collect this info.

Sunset Waters

Upon arrival at the dock, we will fit you with our complimentary rental gear and ask that you fill out a standard PADI release form before we jump on a boat and head towards our first dive site aiming to arrive and be in the water approximately 15 minutes before sundown. The reason behind this is that this is time of day that the marine world is most active in regards to both hunting and mating. In short, you can expect to see more or less the same animal life as you would during a standard day dive but the fish, turtles and crustaceans we find won't be as stationary as usual but will instead be swimming and scurrying over the reef or wreck.

Depths of Darkness

As the sunlight fades and darkness emerges, an abundance of life we simply don't get to see during the daylight hours will begin to appear. This includes but isn't limited to: horseshoe crab, squid, octopus and absolutely massive swarms of bloodworm. Furthermore, even though we will be diving in darkness, we are also very likely to come across turtles and certain species of shark who come to rest in the safety of the reef. For dive groups who feel comfortable in the water, Cthulhu Divers also offers the option to conduct approximately 15 minutes of this dive in complete darkness, without flashlights, in order to find bioluminescent ostracods and corals. While we search for these, don't forget to look behind you so you can have your very own underwater Peter Pan experience as even the tiny dinoflagellates floating the water, agitated by the movement of our fins, will begin to sparkle as we swim past.

Finally, as we make our way to the safety stop, lights will be switched back on and the bloodworm, found in even more abundance at this shallow depth, will simply flock to our light-beams and before you know it, our three minute stop will be over.

The dazzeling beauty of a squid can only be truly appreciated under torchlight
